Arzberg Tea Set for Gift

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Bauhaus designed Form 1382 by Dr. Hermann Gretsch, Arzberg produced 500 of the black teasets.

Each piece has a special anniversary backstamp and the teapot is numbered.

The gift-boxed set includes:

Teapot w/lid, numbered out of the edition of 500 (e.g. 100/500)

Sugar Bowl w/lid

Creamer

2 teacups and saucers

2 breakfast/dessert plates

Enjoy your morning coffee or a warm cup of cocoa in these beautiful mugs. Arzberg TRIC offers just the right cup for every taste, the saucer, it self is also diverse, it fits perfectly with four of the six cups offered in TRIC without wobbling, even when it is stacked. TRIC, the award winning design from Micheal Sieger embodies, practicality, style and function. A classic and colorful collection that is fun to mix and match. From bold, energetic to soft subtle colors, or a little of both this line is perfect for any host. From oven to table to refrigerator, Tric's multi-functional pieces makes entertaining a breeze.

The Arzberg company, since 1887 has stood for the highest quality in materials and design. Known for their simple, no frills designs, so timeless as to always remain contemprary. Heinrich Schumann, originally from Angelroda (Thuringia), had a small pottery in Arzberg that had to close because it was in the way of the newly built railway. The railway was finished in November 1879 and connected Arzberg with the railway network.

In 1931, Arzberg Form 1382 set the benchmark for modern tableware. It's now celebrating its 75th Anniversary and its design is unchanged. As with his contemporaries at the Bauhaus, Dr.Ing. Hermann Gretsch relied on form & function to guide his design. His quest was to design a soup tureen that could be emptied with a ladle. The result was this collection which is pure, unadorned and timeless. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Iittala Espresso Cup

The Iittala range is like a hamper packed full of good things, with something for everyone. We update the contents of the hamper a little every year, and even a little every season these days, but the fundamental ingredients stay the same: functional, beautiful pieces designed to stand the test of time, for decades to come. Colors that always work well together are one of the key aspects of Iittala's 'mix and match'. A fresh breath of turquoise blue, together with black – a complete and, at the same time, inspiring contrast have been chosen as the colors of the year for 2008 that are launched to the Iittala range.

Black is one those colors that always come around, although it never goes out of fashion either. It is particularly popular at the moment and can be found in a lot of retail and restaurants interiors, something that points to it soon making waves in the home as well. Four of the most popular products in Iittala's Teema range have been singled out for the black treatment: the mug, the bowl, the dish, and the plate. These also feature our inspirational colors as well. A sharp black espresso cup will also be added to the Aika range, as well as black bowls will be launched to the Origo range. The Aalto vase will also look that little bit different when it is hand blown from black glass. Achieving a true black glass has been a challenge for Iittala's glass craftsmen, but the result glows with a rich darkness that is completely beguiling.

Blue has always been a popular color for glassware, as it sets off the vivacity and transparency of glass so well. For Finns, blue conjures up visions of the seasons and the interplay between water and ice, Finland's thousands of lakes, and the deep blue of the northern sky. And turquoise blue works wonderfully well with the no-compromise quality of black. Iittala likes to introduce its colors of the year across a wide spectrum of the range, and turquoise blue pieces will be featured in Aino Aalto, Kartio, and Ote glassware, and Kivi candleholders and Aalto vases. The color will also be included in the range of textiles on sale at Iittala stores, opening up new ideas for turquoise blue-featured table settings and new opportunities for mixing and matching with black. Versace Acanto Black Round Box

Elegant porcelain Rosenthal Versace miniature gold gilded coffee pot designed by Paul Wunderlich with the decoration designed by the late Gianni Versace. This item is probably a salesman sample or display piece. The Rosenthal pattern by Versace is "Les Tresors de la Mer" which translates to Treasures of the Sea. The shape is known as "Ikarus" and is part of the Rosenthal Studio Line.

The Versace porcelain designer, Paul Wunderlich, was born in Berlin in 1927. He gave up a successful career as a professor of art to pursue his own talents. Although he still lives and works in Hamburg, his exhibits and travels abroad have brought Wunderlich international acclaim. Wunderlich's designs are influenced by mysticism and most are characterized by the use of precious metals and rare materials. He has been a designer for Rosenthal since 1978. His works show how light porcelain is and what shapes can be created by his steeply curved handles.

This excellent example has a wing detailed gold gilded finial. The shape created here seems well suited to the decoration which Gianni Versace designed. Ann Kerr wrote in her book, Rosenthal Excellence For All Times, Treasures of the Sea suggests Mediterranean waters, the scent of sea breezes, blue skies. Sea creatures, mythic and actual appear on different items as if cast up by the tides.

The Versace decoration is very Italian, very mysterious, very wonderful. Gianni Versace (original spelling), Italian by birth but internationally claimed by the fashion design and theatrical worlds brought luxury to the Rosenthal family of excellence. His details are sumptuous, intricate and involved, his colors so important, so clearly ones which he seemed to own. Colorful in life, Versace's work remains so. There are no chips, cracks or damage to the wonderful design or gold gilding. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Izabel Lam Porcelain Expresso Cup

Buy a limited edition porcelain direct from Izabel Lam! Line your kitchen window sill with our beautiful majolicas wrapped and delivered direct from etabletop.com surprise someone special with a limited-edition pottery piece from you. Also, we would be happy to extend a no shipping fee on multiple purchases.

Naturally, with some of the Izabel Lam pieces being decorated by amateurs, collectors sometimes notice a variation in the quality of the décor. When valuing Izabel Lam pieces, this should be taken into consideration. High quality hand painting holds more value than the work of an unskilled porcelain painter. And if a skillfully decorated piece is signed by the artist, it can be worth even more.

Some pieces of Izabel Lam Porcelain were decorated with transfers as well. These transfers were decals of sorts that mimicked hand decorating and were often combined with techniques executed by hand. Even a beautifully transferred piece will hold more value than a poorly executed hand-decorated item. Generally, however, collectors prefer hand decorated pieces and will pay premium prices to procure a nice example.

Some porcelain collectors solely concentrate on Izabel Lam products and largely ignore other Izabel Lam company names. Others focus on a broader range of Izabel Lam items from a variety of manufacturers. They move away from the quaint dinnerware toward decorative accessories such as vases, trays and tankards generally featuring more vivid coloration and an abundance of decorative gold trim. Burgundy wine glass: These have a larger bowl to accumulate aromas of more dainty red wines. The shape is meant to direct the wine to the tip of the tongue of the wine lovers.

Wine glass design entails a tulip-shaped design, having three essential components: the base, the stem which allows one to grip it, and a body which holds the wine. e.g. Riedel crystal wine glasses. Red wine glasses, such as the Riedel crystal wine glasses are characterized by their rounder, wider bowl. The wider bowl also enables the wine to cool much quicker after it has been warmed by body heat. Their types are:

Riedel White wine glasses are narrower and have straight or tulip-shaped sides. The narrowness of white wine glasses helps retain the wine's temperature. Details of Hutschenreuther

Each Hutschenreuther ornament is a dated limited edition piece. This ornament is from 1994, and was designed by Ole Winther. In 1814, Karl Mangus Hutschenreuther established one of the first private porcelain decoration factories in Germany. He decorated white-ware and produced his own patterns. Upon his death in 1845, his son Lorenz continued the Hutschenreuther Porcelain tradition. Hutschenreuther was a trendsetter and enabled Germany to gain an excellent reputation in the European china industry. The Hutschenreuther 'Mark of the Lion' is a symbol of excellence that continues to this day.

Hutschenreuther is the name of the family that established the production of porcelain in Northern Bavaria, in 1814. Hutschenreuther was a trend-setter and enabled Germany to gain an excellent reputation in the European porcelain industry. The Hutschenreuther "Mark of the Lion" is a symbol of excellence that continues to this day, though, since 2000, it is a trademark of Rosenthal.

The company was founded in 1814 by Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther (c1780-1845) and based in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria, Germany. Carl had previously worked at the Wallendorf porcelain manufacturing company. After his death in 1845, the factory was headed by his widow, Johanna Hutschenreuther, and her sons. From 1860, they produced gilded porcelains that were hand painted. A large part of the factory was destroyed by a fire in 1848 but it was rebuilt.

In the early part of the 20th century, Hutschenreuther grew quickly by absorbing factories at Altrohlau (1909), of Carl Auvera in Arzberg 1856, Carl's sons Lorenz and Christian founded their own firm in Selb, a town some 17 km north of Hohenberg. Later know as Lorenz Hutschenreuther, Selb (LHS), this firm expanded and took over the Tirschenreuth porcelain factory, in 1927. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Missoni Breakfast Dinner Set

Rosita Missoni has also elevated stripes into high fashion, subverting the straight into eyedefying curves, zigzags and chevrons that career over cushions, bound around bolsters and push onto plates. Missoni will be gifting their Missoni Parfum, an irresistible weave of luscious fruits, exuberant florals and tantalizing gianduia chocolate. Colored by joy, scented by passion, fueled by "amore" it is an expression of the Italian lifestyle. Captured in an elegantly whimsical cushioned pouch made of the signature Missoni material.

There are contemporary options, too. Fashion designers such as Missoni and Kenzo are leading the way in creating stylish home ranges that include teatime pieces. Liberty has a good selection. Missoni's Margherita range is particularly striking, with teacups are very nice. All it takes is a little imagination to turn plain into pleasing. So, if you need a few pieces of dinnerware, start at the dollar store and see what develops. Match Ice Tea Spoon

This Match no-nonsense flatware celebrates classic Oneida design elements. Dramatic flutes and a scalloped tip decorate Dublin's fan-shaped handle. A graceful addition is to your tabletop. This is slightly smaller than a regular teaspoon. It is not available in most modern services. This Match spoon is usually identical to a youth spoon. As the name suggests it is for the before dinner tea or coffee. China manufactures used to manufacture tea and coffee and demitasse sized cups.

This Match spoon is about the same size and shape as a teaspoon. The bowl may be slightly smaller and more ornate than a regular teaspoon. If the bowl does not differ from a teaspoon in any way other than that it has cut out serration's consider the possibility that this is a modified item. Normally, fruit spoons have a sharp pointed tip or a slightly serrated tip.

This Match spoon for ice cream is often modified from teaspoons. Genuine ice cream spoons are most often found in services that were introduced about the turn of the century. There was no automated refrigeration then. Ice cream was a rare treat that deserved a special spoon. Today many collectors want to acquire ice cream spoons.

The Match Place spoon, Oval soup and Dessert spoon usually refer to the same item in modern flatware services. In older services, these terms can actually refer to slightly different sizes of very similar items. All of these are basically a larger version of the teaspoon. In older services, measure this piece carefully to be sure that you are ordering the correct size of spoon. Usually only found in 19 Century Patterns. This is a very small spoon used for taking salt from a salt dish to the food. You will not usually find these in silver plate or Stainless. Silverplate can not survive the exposure to salt. Bjorn Wiinblad Wall Plate

They are passionate collectors of the works of Danish designer, Bjorn Wiinblad (1918-2006). Bjorn is known as the 'designer's designer'. His work is diverse and encompasses studio art pottery, glass, silver, posters and costume design. He was the Rosenthal Porcelain company's chief designer for 35 years and his work has been exhibited worldwide including in London's Victoria and Albert Museum and New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Both Elizabeth and Richard are equally passionate about Wiinblad's work, but in the beginning Elizabeth was the collector. They started collecting five years ago through a Danish contact and now they have more than 150 items in their collection.

Elizabeth and Richard's collection is throughout their house; it's something they love to see every day. Elizabeth says the beauty of Bjorn Wiinblad Wall Plate 's work is that you can buy a lovely little piece cheaply or you can spend a great deal of money on his large statues. Elizabeth and Richard will keep on collecting because they say, "There is always something out there that you haven't seen before and of course you really feel like you'd like to have it".

Since the 1950s, Rosenthal studio-line has led the industry in modern, avant-garde design. Internationally renowned designers and artists such as Walter Gropius, Timo Sarpaneva, Tapio Wirkkala, Mario Bellini and Bjorn Wiinblad have all contributed to building Rosenthal's brand name. Recent collaborations with designers Jasper Morrison and Platt and Young have led to many new product innovations. For example, Rosenthal secured the worldwide license for reproductions of Andy Warhol's works and designs in crystal and ceramics. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Rosenthal Designing Phases

Rosenthal Studio-Line Dinnerware TAC 02 Weiss Salad / Dessert Plate - TAC is true to Walter Gropius' principles. Built on geometric forms, the simple circle and the seamless globe are the primary inspirations for this modern, streamlined collection. The ancient shape of the Chinese tea bowl had been the source of inspiration for Walter Gropius. Purist design, based on simple geometric shapes, lends TAC a timeless poetry. Decors on slightly translucent porcelain emphasize the features of this icon of Bauhaus design.

The nicest of the very hi-style "modern" design made famous after WWII by the world ren own German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal. This extensive dinner service was purchased by an American soldier stationed in Germany in the 1950's and purchased by us from his family. The design is delicate gray and tan grasses on a white background with fine gold trim.

The organic, time-worn shapes of boulders inspired Rosenthal's award-winning Suomi dinnerware, created by the noted Scandinavian designer Timo Sarpaneva. Now the collection is available in a new Celebration pattern, with delicate plants silhouetted in platinum and gold against the smooth white porcelain. Gift Ideas of Anniversary

These delightful little bowls are the ideal gift for people who like a place for everything. Perfect for storing earrings in or use it at your desk for paper clips. They are an ideal gift for anyone who likes storage on a small scale or simply as a lovely wee bowl. Gift products will consist of inspirational messages and images inscribed on the following items: candles & candleholders, Christmas gifts, plates, desk accessories, figurines, frosted statues, garden plaques, garden statues, glow in the dark crucifixes, indoor fountains, lamps & lighting, Mother's Day gifts, nightlights, picture frames, wall decor, sun catchers, vases, wind chimes, wood carvings.

Although the plates and bowls are created to be functional, a majority are sold for display. (Plate holders & stands can be found at craft stores). The reverse of these pieces are equally attractive. All the gold is seen from the reverse and the pieces are very smooth, not cut-up images as found on "decoupage plates". The Bowl is a great size for a centerpiece. The plates are nice in multiples hung on the wall or popular as dessert sets. The coasters work equally well as a wine bottle coaster. Many people use one coaster with a bottle of wine as a hostess gift. All accessories come with a card explaining some history and the care of the item, making a very nice presentation.

The Prints are also presented nicely and are ready for gift giving (Showers, Birthday, Weddings, etc.). They come in a standard size, making finding a frame to match the décor, very simple. The Apples and Honey set is for the Jewish New Year celebration.

These gifts are elegant and truly special. They make quite a statement wherever they are used and displayed. It is very unusual to find gifts with this amount of both yellow and white gold. I wanted to create gifts that would really stand apart, I hope that you agree that they do. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

History of Fornasetti Plates

One of Adrian's favourite designers is Piero Fornasetti, the Italian designer famous for his mysterious and quirky pieces. Fornasetti lived and worked in Milan all his life and was one of the most prolific decorative artists of the 20th century. He was a painter, sculptor, decorator and engraver. His style was one based on illusion, architectural perspectives, and a number of themes such as the sun, playing cards, fish and flowers, from which he made seemingly endless variations.

Born in Milan in 1913, Fornasetti grew up under the influence of functionalist restraint but, by looking at his work, it's obvious it didn't restrain him. His fruitful imagination created a dream-like magical world, and he applied his decorative vocabulary to an astonishing array of objects - ashtrays, chairs, plates, cabinets and dining tables were all transformed by the application of unexpected images. Fornasetti rebelled against the concept of numbering, dating and signing his work. He was so sure that his style was unmistakable that he was indifferent to these significant marks that collectors use as proof of date and identity.

The strongly graphic, intriguingly surreal range of Theme and Variations plates designed by Italian painter, printer, engraver and interior designer Piero Fornasetti are a must-have item. Fornasetti's work, fusing Surrealism and Neo-Classicism, is enjoying a major revival, and his black, white and gold plates depicting portraits of the enigmatic, saucer-eyed, alabaster-skinned 19th century beauty Lina Cavalieri, are a captivating example of his work. Perfect as a gift for connoisseurs of design or dinner party hosts who enjoy making a splash.

This Plate is sexy than stogy. One room is wallpapered with a wild, black and white floral print, while another acts as a gallery for dozens of dinner plates designed by the artist Pietro Fornasetti. The plates act as another metaphor. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Artel Glass Candleholder

We are pleased to present The Golden Age of Yachting barware collection from Artel, one of Europe's leading artisan producers of fine crystal. Applying the unbending standards of traditional glassmaking, the intricate and graceful lines of illustrious sailing ships are hand-engraved on each piece of brilliant lead-free, mouth-blown crystal.

From schooners to cutters, The Golden Age of Yachting barware sets feature six Artel different yachts sailing through picturesque seascapes. The complex lines of masts, hulls and billowing sails on these splendid craft are expertly engraved on each piece. The Golden Age of Yachting barware sets make the perfect addition to any traditional or modern home or yacht, and an enthralling, unforgettable gift.

The Artel Candleholder craftsmen had to switch to manufacturing powder-cases, hand glasses, and other objects of everyday life. Broaches with portraits became extremely popular with the bourgeois. To produce the broaches photographs and daguerreotypes were used which had just appeared at that time. After the revolution Rostov's enamel craftsmen organized an artel. In order to improve the quality of production they invited the eminent graphic artist who organized a school attached to the artel.

Products will range from table-ware, furniture, vases, and crystal glasses to soft furnishings and rugs, vintage flower books, gift cards, beauty products, scented candles and tea lights. Brands will include; Anna Torf vases, Artel hand engraved crystal, Amy Cushing glassware, Lucien Pellat-Finet's scented candles, Catherine Memmi beauty products, and 'Wild at Hearts' own scented candles and gift cards. Iittala Alvar Aalto Glassware

The 125th anniversary of Iittala will be marked by an exhibition of the architecture and design work of Alvar Aalto (1898-1876). The exhibition brings out the unusually extensive and varied work of this famous architect and designer, which covers architecture, furniture design, light fittings and glassware. The introduction to the exhibition serves as a pictorial review of Aalto's architecture, from the early designs of the 1920s right up to jobs completed in the 1970s. At the same time it traces the development of Aalto's architecture through Classicism, Functionalism and Modernism to the organic style.

The results of Iittala Aalto's creativity and productive capacity can be seen not only in buildings, but also in city centres, industrial plants, master plans, residential areas and private houses. Several of Iittala Aalto's one-off houses are on show in the form of photographs, drawings and models. Aalto's lesser-known designs for private houses that were never built are represented by the atrium house Alvar Aalto designed for his brother at Alajärvi (1925), a weekend house in the archipelago for British hotel-owner Richmond Temple (1937), the Villa Harriet designed for Maire and Harry Gullichsen's daughter (1946) and the Villa Sambonet, a residence and studio for the artist Roberto Sambonet (1955).

The Maison Carre (1956-61) built for Louis and Olga Carre is one of the private houses that was built. The building, which is one of Iittala Aalto's most important houses, is located in France and is made unique by virtue of the fact that it was the home of an art collector. It is especially topical to show this building now, as it was recently acquired by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. The Maison Carre in Bazoches-sur-Guyonnes is protected by law and the idea is to renovate the building and open it to the public.

Like his other buildings, Alvar Aalto's houses are designed as complete works of art, right down to the furniture, light fittings and interior details. For Iittala Aalto, it was natural to use natural materials and bent wood which can be seen particularly in his furniture designs. The modern style of Iittala Aalto's furniture, light fittings and glassware is characterised not only by simplified shapes but also by organic forms derived from nature. The Aalto vase, which copies natural forms and was designed in 1936, is a wonderful, timeless example of this. As the vase celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, an exhibition of Iittala Aalto's work is particularly appropriate at Iittala this summer. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Theresienthal Tumbler

The Theresienthal Tumbler craftsmanship is stunning, making the ring clear and lovely. I have further crystal items listed from this prestigious manufacturer if you are interested in more. If you take a look at the Theresienthal you will see that the glassware produced there is marketed at the finest locations worldwide.

Up for auction is a pair of traditional crystal schnapps Theresienthal glasses or shot glasses. These tiny vintage glasses have a clear blown crystal cupola encircled by a fine ribbed band of amber glass resting on a clear lip. Four decorative amber rosettes are attached to the sides. The name of this retired pattern is unknown to me and it is my educated guess that they were produced by the Kristallglassmanufaktur Theresienthal GmbH, Zwiesel, Bavaria sometime after 1970. The small glasses are in excellent condition. There are no nicks, dings, chips, scratches nor repairs.

The gilded look that was all the rage on Fall's runway has landed on the table. The Caroline Mercury Canister has an antiqued copper finish, the goblet an amber luster and the fabulous crystal stemware from coveted names Moser and Theresienthal is etched.

With around 15 glassworks, glass workshops and galleries, Zwiesel is the centre of glassmaking and processing in the Bavarian Forest. The Technical College for Glass, Schott Zwiesel, Ambiente, Rimpler and the Theresienthal crystal factory are just a few of the names associated with glassmaking in the town. Andy Warhol Paperweight Crystal

Printed with Andy Warhol's famous 1960s Flowers images, the set includes four square bowls that fit flawlessly onto a coordinating tray. They're perfectly sized and great for serving snacks, appetizers or condiments at your next get-together. Andy Warhol plates from Crate and Barrel are already sold out on the site. Use them indoors or out, but get them soon.

Most often seen as the crown prince of the avant-garde, Warhol's drawings provide clear evidence that draughtsmanship sat at the very center of his artistic life. He learned to draw in the most academic manner from his years at Carnegie Tech. This skill was further honed during his stay on Madison Avenue working as an illustrator far commercial advertising. Taken together these two experiences resulted in a finely wrought, clean, quick line which created the essential artistic skeleton on which all of his art was built. I would hazard the opinion that Warhol was every bit the draughtsman that Ingres, Holbein, or even Picasso was," said Thomas Sokolowski, director for The Andy Warhol Museum.

Along with the drawings produced for his commercial work in the fashion and advertising industries during the 1950s, Andy Warhol also sketched intimate portraits of his friends. Occasionally he would add gold leaf to a drawing to enhance the glamour and seductive qualities of the image.

During the early Andy Warhol 1960s, especially the period from 1962 when he started to use photo-silkscreen painting, Warhol's drawings have an experimental and exploratory feel. They combine elements of photography, collage, written instructions of working studies, and, on occasion, finished pencil and colored crayon or watercolor. Royal Copenhagen Jug

Royal Copenhagen is one of the largest industrial arts group world-wide. The company was formed in 1997 through a merger between Royal Copenhagen A/S, the Swedish art glassware company Orrefors Kosta Boda, the Swedish industrial arts company Boda-Nova Hoganas Keramik and the Italian glassworks Venini.

Royal Scandinavia dates back to 1742, when the Kosta glassworks were founded. The Royal Porcelain Manufacturer was founded in 1775 on the initiative of the royal house in Denmark. The European royal families of that time competed with each other about owning the most beautiful porcelain objects, which were extremely expensive then and known as the white gold. The Flora Danica dinner set, which King Christian VII ordered from Royal Copenhagen, is a perfect example, and it is still considered one of the most exclusive sets in the world.

In addition to porcelain from Royal Copenhagen, the group's products now range from silver from Georg Jensen, art glassware from Orrefors, Kosta Boda and Venini, functional glassware from Holmegaard to stoneware, steel cutlery and glass from Boda Nova Hoganas.

Royal Copenhagen dinnerware or even Danish china tableware, then you know quality. Rosssimon will make you feel even better about your lighthouse dinnerware or break resistant dinnerware purchase by offering a complete return or replace guarantee on purchases. Even great quality products such as royal copenhagen dinnerware and danish china tableware may have reason for return. Not so much for quality reasons, but maybe you simply changed your mind on the pattern of patriotic dinnerware or larimar dinnerware originally selected. If you need to return any or all of your royal copenhagen dinnerware or other top brand place settings you also won’t have to worry about lugging those heavy boxes back to the store. History of Riedel Glasses

The Riedel family has been in the glass business for 300 years, with 11 generations keeping the family business intact. The Riedel story begins in 1678 in the northern part of Bohemia, bordering Schlesia today the Czech republic and Poland respectively. This part of Bohemia was a German speaking enclave known as the Sudetenland. The Venetians brought back the knowledge of glass making from the Near East around 1.000 A.D. The knowledge of producing glass spread slowly towards the northern part of Europe, searching for energy, critical to the melting of glass. Wood was the source, causing a glassmaker migration to the forests. Due to this migration, a glass culture developed in Bohemia in the 17th century.

The first Riedel in the trade of luxury glass goods was Johann Christoph Riedel, born in 1678. He journeyed all over Europe trading glass, travelling as far as Spain and Portugal. The earnings from the business justified the long, arduous and dangerous travels. The 9th generation, Claus J. Riedel (born 1925) had a vision. He changed stemware from traditional coloured and cut glass to plain, unadorned, thin blown, long stemmed wine glasses. He gained immediate recognition from sophisticated customers and museums. Many design awards signalled that a new era had began. Museums bought pieces for their exhibition, like the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which today still has Riedel in their permanent collection.

Based on his unique designs, Claus Riedel was first in history to recognize the effect of shapes on the perception of alcoholic beverages. His work has influenced and changed the appearance of stemware forever. His master piece "Sommeliers" was introduced in Orvieto, 30 years ago, the first ever stemware line to be based on the character of wine. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/
