Bjorn Wiinblad Candleholder

Bjorn Wiinblad is gifted with a sparkling fantasy putting him in the position to create exuberant masterpieces of ceramics, which during the years have enthused people across the globe. There is no doubt about his significant position within the decorative art and craftwork. His design is strongly personal and often has a touch of Oriental inspiration. In 1998, when Bjorn Wiinblad celebrated his 80 birthday, the exhibition place Sophienholm in Lyngby north of the Danish capital Copenhagen dedicated a special exhibition to his works through time. For the exhibition a catalogue with text written by Bjorn Wiinblad himself was published.

A peculiar tradition in Wiinblad's family was that the youngsters usually got an education as typesetter, only to find out which line of business they would actually choose later in life. 17 years old Wiinblad followed this tradition and became a typesetters apprentice in 1935. Luckily he left this path as a technical composer of newspaper pages and became an artist. To become a designer was a natural choice for Bjorn Wiinblad who already as a child was renowned for his creative mind. Before Christmas he was always busy drawing, painting, cutting and pasting astonishing gifts for friends and family.

Apparently, his calling is to create designs that makes the world a little bit more beautiful, a little more inspiring, a little more funny and often much more colourful. In doing so, he works in many different areas, for example with ceramics, porcelain, glass, posters, decoration for the theatres as well as textiles. In his own words, working with many different kinds of art is "a permanent search for the uncertain to be a beginner so that I must exert myself to meet the requirements of the different tasks". This shall be seen contrary to the artists seeking perfection in one specific area.

Bjorn Wiinblad Candleholder made his dream of illustrating Mozart's opera The Magic Flute in relief form come true with this porcelain service. Probably the most technically complex Rosenthal studio-line form evokes the appearance of a production of the famous Mozart opera in porcelain. Each set element displays a detailed relief of one of the opera scenes. The undersides display the respective libretto text in the ornamental Wiinblad handwriting. The characteristic Magic Flute reliefs are decorated with a hand painted platinum coating. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/

Riedel Tyrol Glass Collection

Riedel has been known for over four decades for designing the most finely tuned instruments for every level of wine sophistication as well, today, as the finest wine glasses in all price categories. While a glass cannot alter a fine wine or spirit, it can and does dramatically alter our perception of it.

In 1958, Riedel introduced the Burgundy Grand Cru glass, the only stemware on permanent display in New York City's Museum of Modern Art. Since then, Riedel has designed over 100 glasses. As a connoisseur of fine wines and spirits (Georg was named Decanter Magazine's 1996 Man of the Year), Riedel develops new glass shapes to enhance the world's most exciting and complex beverages at tasting workshops with leading international wine and spirit producers rather than on a drawing board or by computer. Most of Riedel's glasses in a myriad of shapes ranging in size from thimble to fish bowl were created to highlight the finest characteristics of the particular liquids they would direct onto the palate. That is, each glass was developed for a single individual beverage and therefore has a specific purpose.

Developed by Georg Riedel on the principle that content commands shape. Each glass, tailored to a specific grape varietal, highlights its particular flavors by directing where the wine first meets the tongue. 24% lead crystal. Hand wash. Made in Germany. Riedel produces a range of 24% lead crystal glasses, with shapes and sizes to suit your wine, maximising the taste, aroma and finish. Combining Charles Mitchell finest wines with Riedel finest glasses is a match made in heaven and they are available exclusively to our customers.

Designed by Georg Riedel, the glass has a soft pink stem and clear bowl to complement any color. The glass will be sold in sets of two for, attractively packaged as a pair in a black box adorned by a pink ribbon, wherever Riedel is sold. LBBC receives 15 percent of proceeds. Tyrol collection stands on a solid half sphere which offers an amazing light reflection. Tyrol is executed in lead crystal which gives to the solid base a never ending sparkle and great stability. German porcelain factory, Arzberg, manufactured this pair of cups and saucers in around 1985 as part of its commercial range of contemporary teaware. The Arzberg porcelain factory opened in Bavaria, Germany, in 1887 though achieved enormous success in the late 1920s when it formed a partnership with the organiser of the 1928 Berlin Exhibition of Good Design. Iittala Kartio Glasses

Established in 1881, Iittala is known for creating objects that are thought through in form, function and quality. Objects with a clear thought, created to achieve long lasting everyday use and inspiration. Whether in metal, wood, porcelain or glass, iittala design objects are tools for contemporary living. Iittala continues to be a major driving force of Scandinavian design with legendary designers Kaj Franck (1911-1989) and Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) as the cornerstones for the brand. iittala objects are design essentials stripped to their core; the pure union of function, form and quality that demonstrates the company's core philosophy of lasting everyday design, against 'throwawayism'

Alfredo Haberli designed the Essence range in 2001 around an essential idea 'to have as few glasses as possible, while still being able to serve a full range of fine wine'. An extra tall glass with a funky big foot which makes it a good balance between tradition and modernity. The red wine stands 235mm tall and is dishwasher friendly.

Black is one those colors that always come around, although it never goes out of fashion either. It is particularly popular at the moment and can be found in a lot of retail and restaurants interiors, something that points to it soon making waves in the home as well. Four of the most popular products in Iittala's Teema range have been singled out for the black treatment: the mug, the bowl, the dish, and the plate. These also feature our inspirational colors as well. A sharp black espresso cup will also be added to the Aika range, as well as black bowls will be launched to the Origo range. The Aalto vase will also look that little bit different when it is hand blown from black glass. Achieving a true black glass has been a challenge for Iittala's Kartio glass craftsmen, but the result glows with a rich darkness that is completely beguiling.

Iittala Kartio Glass Jar Large Blueberry Blue. Modern life in functional spaces. Iittala's high quality glass jars turn the eternal problem of storage into decoration. These basic pieces come in three sizes and colors, each with a transparent, plastic lid. They will continue to reinvent themselves in your kitchen or wherever else you choose to use them, whatever you decide to put inside them. Fornasetti's Designed Plates

One of Adrian's favourite designers is Piero Fornasetti, the Italian designer famous for his mysterious and quirky pieces. Fornasetti lived and worked in Milan all his life and was one of the most prolific decorative artists of the 20th century. He was a painter, sculptor, decorator and engraver. His style was one based on illusion, architectural perspectives, and a number of themes such as the sun, playing cards, fish and flowers, from which he made seemingly endless variations.

Born in Milan in 1913, Fornasetti grew up under the influence of functionalist restraint but, by looking at his work, it's obvious it didn't restrain him. His fruitful imagination created a dream-like magical world, and he applied his decorative vocabulary to an astonishing array of objects - ashtrays, chairs, plates, cabinets and dining tables were all transformed by the application of unexpected images.

Fornasetti rebelled against the concept of numbering, dating and signing his work. He was so sure that his style was unmistakable that he was indifferent to these significant marks that collectors use as proof of date and identity. After his death, his son Barnaba began to distinguish the re-editions from the original classics with the Fornasetti stamp.

The plates are black and white, though we have seen a black on gilt version of the companion "Adam" set. On the back of each plate it says "Fornasetti-milano Made in Italy" [in English] and shows a picture of a hand holding a brush; in the center there is a fig leaf, and a number from 1 to 12; at the top an arrow pierces a sign that says "Alto Haut Top"; and underneath the glaze the center is marked with the brand of a German porcelain manufacturer in an oval, under which "4 Germany 4" is printed. In addition to the specific answers of provenance and price, we'd like the information and sources used to determine them. Please purchase on online http://www.etabletop.com/
